Asesino, Tornillo, Wah Wah, Flow, Murrayclub, etc - Blasco Ibanez Nightlife, Valencia

Natura Dub - an alternative hangout for those with dreadlocks and camo trousers. Smoked up large rock bar with a bizarre ambience and an occasional weird rock band.

Zenit - a more mainstream nightclub with house and pop until 7am.

Flow - a very energetic and charismatic, vibrant student disco-bar with a packed programme of nights: R&B, drum'n'bass, indie, house, rock, films. Very popular.

Kraken - a well-known rock / rock'n'roll bar with a loyal following of alternative students and classic rockers.

Studio - a mini-night-club with commercial hits, extremely popular with students - drinks are cheap, entry is usually free and it goes on until 7am every night of the week.

Rumbo 144 - the large mainstream nightclub of the area, packed on weekends - pop and commr house. On Wed - the biggest R&B Erasmus night in Valencia until 7am

Murrayclub - the alternative night-club of the area popular with students and alternative types. Hip-hop, indie, electronica, rock.

Kubata de Hojalata - an anarchic hard rockers haunt for the Hell’s Alngels sympathisers. Dingy and scruffy, as required. They won't welcome everyone.

Latribu - a modern, originally decorated place with nostalgia for the sixties and comfy sofa corners to chill on. A more mellow vibe for those who like it in a lower gear. Studenty and alternative vibe. Closes early - 2am.

Cafe Latin - a small Latin bar, not very busy

Café Azteca - a somewhat average student bar with an aztec theme

Cafe de Tots - it is a small and freidnly meeting point, but a bit too simple.

Salsoteca Mullanse - an authentic Columbian bar with all kinds of latino music and a genuine mixed-age latino crowd, trying out the salsa moves in front of you. Cosy and friendly but a little expensive.

Cafe Paris - a large night café. A cosmopolitan meeting point for friends.

Cafe Tabuco - arty decor, R&B soundtrack, pool, darts, table football, cheap beer from table taps for the lazy. Classy in an unpretentious way.

Tasca Gat - a small bar with impressive curious graffiti. A good bet for strange encounters but doesn’t really have what it takes for a full night out.

Edimburgo - looks like a reference to the intellectual pub-circles in Edinbbourgh. This is a mellow bar with many tables for window-gazing, and a more mature, smart looking clientele. Sports TV

El Tornillo - one of the biggest names in the area, it is a tiny but trendy and very dynamic indie disco-bar with a diverse programme of DJs and live music. All kinds of rock mixed with electronic sounds. Cosmopolitan, good-looking crowd.

Poppeye Vive Aqui - Poppeye lives here. It's a quirky name for a quirky odd bar. Small, modern in a curious way and popular with a few trendier students. Don't ask if they sell pints of spinach. It was only funny the first time.

El Asesino - a large and popular alternative / student rock bar. Gets full most days of the week. A brightly lit, smoked up rockers' hangout with an area for pub games. Alternative public. Rock soundtrack and an occasional live act.

Escondite - another well known rock bar for the alternative types. A popular meeting point.

Wah Wah - this is a very well known place but mostly for the lots of excellent live music they put on. There is nothing too special here at other times. Live music is 11pm-1am Thu, Fri and Sat.

Cafe Burlon - a small pub with a large peronality. One of those mischievous hyperactive hangouts for the pirates of the night - students and the alternative types. Super friendly and with all kinds of underground music on the background.

Magic Natura - a large, arty, colourful, lively student bar. Plenty of people, a good place for the starting drink of the nihgt.

Soho - a little more trendy, not too busy.

Usually empty but a fairly pleasant ambience for a quiet drink. The man attraction is the pool table.

Intrinculis - a kinky name for a kinky character. The place is small and cosy with a warm, deeply artistic interior and comfy cutions to relax on. A bohemian vibe, filled with students having a quiet one. Some of the strangest music you have ever heard.

Cafe Bla Bla - this bar went for a replica of luxury. Exquisite a-la-barocco interior, waiter services, a fairly large place, making it feel like a XVII century society salon. Mixed age public, from students to mainstream weekenders. It is a lively but tuned down vibe. Unfortunately not too social as you will be at your table.

Cafe de las Letras - a place for a sophisticated drink. The ambience is soaked in intelligencia - books on the shelves, refined music, intricate furniture and good manners in all directions. It is still very much a student bar, but for a more tranquil and cultured type. Superb range of exotic teas if you go non-alcoholic.

Big Ben - a large pub with an attempt at a British country theme - with wooden interiors, fireplaces, etc. Very popular with a mainstream mixed-age crowd, relaxed vibe.

This place is a multi-purpose student pub - a large space where people play table football or pub games, watch large screen sports TV or just socialize over a beer. Feels totally like a campus halls of residence bar.

Baker St is another attempt at a British pub, this time horribly gone wrong. The awfulness of the interior is one of the main attractions of Valencia.

Bar Jungle - a hangout for the African residents of Valencia. Pretty basic but a great place to socialise with flamboyant African personalitites.

VIP Lounge - not much of a VIP here, a fairly standard tranquil bar.

Lord Byron - a British themed easy-going pub with a student crowd and a great summer terrace.

Cafe Lola - a stunning maze in the sryle of an art basement, lots of cosy corners, warm and welcoming. Gets a lot of people (more towards a mainstream weekender) socializing in a friendly ambience.

Velvet Underground - one of the largest classic indie hangouts in the area, a huge psychedelic maze with a young student / alternative crowd going wild to the underground rock sounds.

Matisse - a mature, multi-dimensional place with a slightly older cosmopolitan crowd, lots of live acts throughout the week and exotic pop mix on weekends.
