21st March 2008 - Good Friday

The Good Friday is by far the main day of the Semana Santa. If you choose to participate in one day of the whole week, this should be it. Today, Christ is judged by Pilate, beaten and crucified.

Today the mood is somber and tragic. In the first part of the day all Brotherhoods will take to the streets in 4 separate processions of Via Crucis. The Via Crucis is a ritual rememberence of Christ's walk to Golgotha with the Cross. The procession will go through 14 specific "stations" which symbolise different events during His walk to the top of the mountain, e.g. Encounter with Mother, Encounter with Veronica, etc.

Later, at night, comes the biggest event of Semana Santa Marinera in Valencia - the spectacular and tragic Procession of the Holy Burial which will give you the chance to see all the Brotherhoods in full glory and with all the imagenes.
