Museum of Rice (Museo de Arroz) - Museum in Valencia, Spain

Rice has always had an important part in Valencian life. It has been one of the city's major exports for centuries, as well as the bulk of local cuisine. No wonder, then, that Valencia has an odd museum like this. It is in fact a XIX-XX century rice factory which has recently been completely reconstructed to show you the whole process, in stages, from a planted seed to the shop shelves. This giant, inter-connected 5 floor rice machine is actually more impressive than it sounds. It is also a curious insight that transports you back into the turn of the XX century Valencia. As such, this is really a history museum. It is definitely worth a look if you are around, but probably not going out of your way too much
